Organic Electronics
Organic Electronics is a branch of physics that utilises the ability of certain carbon-based molecules to conduct electricity, and hence make electronic circuits. These conductive polymers have certain advantages over inorganic materials such as copper or silicon, that make devices made from polymers very desirable. These are mainly their mechanical properties such as, flexibility, toughness, elasticity etc the usual propertied that you associate with plastics, which is essentially what they are. Advances in the development of this area of research has led to a market which is expected to flourish as more advanced devices become available. |
